Beach Bump Graduates!

Oh and yay i'm pleased that you're so excited about the big gender reveal... I am too! Only 3 days to go yay!

Hi all

Simmy, glad you managed to get out for food yesterday and that you had a nice day for your mums birthday, hope you have sorted the remote access for work too!
Re the dummy, the other thing you have to consider is their teeth, it can affect the way the teeth grow etc so just be mindful of that.

Hann, dont think the dummy has much to do with sleeping as we got rid of it a good two months before these sleep issues, plus he rarely had it in his cot and if he did we always took it out when he was asleep, he woke at 130am last night went back to sleep at 2 then till around 6am, im the same as you though, i really struggle to get back to sleep thats the main problem for me! My hips have really been hurting too, was walking round town earlier and its done me in

Caz, hope you are feeling better today.

Fi nice to hear from you are things getting any easier for you?

Re wraps, im also considering getting just the one, for like hands free around the house, just somthing simple and comfy, any ideas as i have no clue!

H has swimming this moring, am so proud of him hes doing so well, hes now jumping in from a standing up position and is just so full of smiles and splashing the whole time. Hes really good at kicking his legs too which a lot of them dont seem to do much of.
Sorry boasting mummy! lol

Mums took him now for the night so just got back from town and we are gonna head out for a cheeky indian tonight!

Aah that's great you get a night off, your mum is great! i'm the same Mel I just cannot get to sleep after I've been woken up, it's the worst!

You're right about the teeth and dummy thing. I guess it's no worse than if they suck their thumb and I think leo would turn into a thumb sucker if he didn't have his dummy. what's the worst of the two evils?!

Harrison sounds great at swimming, wow he can jump in the water from standing up, that's awesome! I've signed Leo up for swimming classes starting in August, will be a challenge with the new baby but I wanted to do something just for him.

I dont know which is worse, never seen H attempt to suck his thumb so not something ive even thought about actually! lol

Im determined to keep up Hs swimming lessons no matter how difficult it may be with new baby. On days when Alan cant assist ive already asked if my mum would help, we would see her at least twice a week anyway i reckon so one of those days might as well be a tues! Its only term time anyhow.

Oh Hann what you said about losing out on quality time with Annabelle and how she will feel about the new baby? Im having the exact same fears, i get quite upset at times thinking maybe im compromising Harrison in some way, in reality i know this isnt really the case and having a sibling will be a great benefit, but i do worry about his feelings in those early days!

Hi girls,

Han - yay for another great daytime nap for Annabelle, bless her. I hope Ajay does the same tomorrow for me at home! Sorry though that you were up inb the night with her, one wake up isn't too bad but if you can't get back to sleep it's horrible.

Mel - enjoy your night off tonight and hope you manage to sleep well. I can't believe that H is jumping into the pool! That's so amazing and he is such a big boy! Ajay can go into the pool and sort of kick but he's never had lessons so he's not that great at swimming but maybe H could teach him?!

Simmy - finally you ate out, lucky you. Hope it wasn't too bad. I bet you've hardly put on any weight during your pregnancy so far as you have been so unwell.

So another day in PJ's for me today. Ajay went to nursery and he is being such a good boy so I'm very lucky. I still feel very weak but am determined to be at home with him tomorrow. I know he could go to nursery as they are wonderful but I just want to spend some time with him and we have toddler group every Wednesday and I love that. So other than that, just watching rubbish on TV! x

Oh Caz I'm so sorry you are still feeling bad. I really hope you wake up tomorrow able to enjoy your day with Ajay. Have an early night and a big sleep x

Mel - hope you have fun tonight and enjoy the lie in! H sounds like he's doing great at swimming. I want to start Annabelle back up in september on a Sunday with Greg taking her so that they have an activity together.
Oh and as for dummy V's thumb/fingers.....I'd say thumb/fingers are probably worse in the long run because you can't take them away! Having said that Annabelle is so cute sucking her fingers so I don't mind so much!

Simmy - its great that you are eating and working (or trying to). I hope Leo starts to nap again, not what you need!

Had a nice afternoon, went to a friends then had a play and now shes in bed. Greg is out tonight (with friends) and tomorrow (work) so I'm about to catch up on silent witness from about 4 weeks ago! I'm so rock n roll!

Oh before I forget, Mel - carriers. I have a stretchy wrap from Victoria the sling lady that I got with Annabelle, suitable from birth, very supportive, probably the kind of thing you need to keep your hands free and the baby supported. The reason I was looking at ring slings is so that I can feed too. I also have a didymos woven wrap but not broken it in yet. I asked Fi on another forum about the slings and its possible to use a woven wrap from newborn stage onwards too. I'm then going to get a manduca or beco for when they are a bit bigger so that both Greg and I can use it. I think if I remember correctly you have an ergo so you probably don't need one like this.

Thanks very much for the wrap info Hann, ive just been on Victoria sling lady website, think il go for one of those on your recomendation! Yes its just for those early months so i think the stretch wrap is fine, i have another carrier plus my ergo too so its not needed long term. That seems exactly what im looking for and good price too! :)

I see what you mean re thumb/finger sucking, yes at least with a dummy you can take it away!
Alans been doing the swimming with H for a few months now and they both love it, Alans quite gutted now that hes gonna be working so cant do it as often, its great that Greg will get to do it with Annabelle, great for their relationship!

Just had a lovely meal, am so eating too much at the mo!!

I got a VSL wrap with J and never used it. Need to get it out and start practising really!

The VSL wraps are good and a good price. You can pay a fortune for similar ones yet all they are are pieces of fabric at the end of the day so I wouldn't pay too much. Even VSL has gone up in price though - mine was £13.95 when I got it 2 years ago. I think she does some other patterns and colours via ebay too

Hann, just been looking on ebay and saw some Mei Tai's what are your opinions on those as they do such lovely prints and arent much more than the stretch wrap? Was just wondering..

Georgie did you have a lovely birthday? x

Love this talk of wraps :)

Off to bed now before trying to fight this illness off again tomorrow. I hate to say it but I fear Ajay may watch more tv Than normal tomorrow the way I'm feeling :( what a bad mum :( x

I'm not an expert but I think with mei taos you get what you pay for, I've heard that some of the internet cheapies aren't very good - lack padding and are unsupportive.
Fi might be able to help more. I am on a sling facebook group so could add you to that and they might be able to advise. Let me know as happy to do that :)

Don't be silly Caz, Ajay will just be happy to be with his mummy! Sleep well and feel better

Mel I got a VSL when Leo was a newborn and only ever used it a couple of times, I think I just didn't get used to the whole fabric thing to be honest so it's more my fault than the sling itself - I just found it a bit too fiddly and a bit too stretchy so felt like he wasn't supported properly. I know you're not supposed to crotch dangle but I always felt Leo was more secure in the baby bjorn. But as I say I think it's just me not having the patience to figure out how to use the VSL properly!

Caz hope you feel better, it sucks that you're still unwell. Don't worry if Ajay watches more tv than normal tomorrow. You need to recuperate and it's only one day. Btw poor Leo has been shoved in front of the tv ever since I got pregnant, oops!

Just had a massive argument with Paul before we went to bed. He kept badgering me about why work haven't lent me a laptop (I asked and they weren't very forthcoming, so I am having to borrow Paul's laptop as the remote system won't work on my mac). He was just really stressing me out with all his questions, and I tried to say it was late and could we discuss in the morning, but he just kept on and on about it. I'm so annoyed because I'm not sleeping well anyway and having an argument before bed is the last thing I need! And plus I just about got the remote access working today with lots of help from people in the office so i would feel terrible to now harass them for a laptop. Grrr men, I can't understand why he insisted on stressing me out so much when I'm pregnant and emotional anyway. :(

Sorry ladies, I had a good birthday thank you! Love my new pink lining bag :)

We've had a couple of better nights here thank god!!
Saw the speech therapist on Mon and she said she wasn't at all concerned, so that was good. Just recommended that we keep repeating things as we do but also show him and give him options more. Like what he wants for lunch for example, she said he will probably still point but its giving him options.

Busy trying to get the kitchen decorated before baby arrives, keep having contractions start and stop which is beyond annoying! 39weeks today!!

Promise to try and find time to reply better, I am reading when I can though xxxx

Aww Simmy, sorry to hear about your argument with Paul, men are such funny creatures! Its not right to be upsetting and stressing you out at the mo though, things are tough enough as it is with the pregnancy, its probably just frustration on his part though but i hope you have cleared the air by now. Re the wraps, yes the wrapping part scares me a bit, i will have to practice with one of Hs toys! lol

Georgie, woo hoo for 39 weeks, thats so exciting! Really close now, i cant wait till 39 weeks! Glad your nights have improved and that the speech therepist went well too!

Thanks again for the advice, looking and thinking about it some more i will probably just stick with the soft wrap, the Mei Thai looks lovely but seems closer to the ergo than to what i actually intend it for, and will use the ergo too when they grow a bit bigger.

Had a nice evening last night and a pretty decent sleep so that was good. Will be meeting my mum and grandad soon and taking H back with me, i like the rest but miss him so much when hes not here too!
We got all the baby bits out the loft yesterday, its all very real now! Its all in grest condition so other than a bit of washing of bits theres not too much to do.
My mum has just booked a 10 day holiday to Cape Verde when im 36 weeks pregnant! Whats the chance that im gonna go into labour or something when shes not here! lol Cant blame her though, she does deserve it.

Oh Caz, dont worry about Ajay watching TV, I only wish i had that option sometimes, H is not remotely interested in watching tv, other than a few adverts hes obsessed with and the credits at the beginning of emmerdale! Hope you are feeling better today.

Mel - zulily have a close baby carrier for £42 today reduced from £60, its basically a stretchy wrap that has been pre wrapped and sewn so that you don't have to wrap it yourself, you just slot them in. They are simpler if you are worried about wrapping but to be honest a bit of practice and you'd get how to do a good wrap. Just thought it was worth pointing out.
Oh and my parents are away for a week when I'm 36 weeks too! I'm not too bothered though as I won't go into labour early.

Simmy - hope you are okay now. Its a bit silly for your work to ask you to work from home but not give you a lap top but I can see that you don't want to rock the boat. If Pauls not using his lap top its not that big a deal I'd think. Hope you feel better today anyway.

Caz - how are you today?

Georgie - yay for 39 weeks! The on off contractions sound very promising. I had that with Annabelle for a week before I gave birth but really bad from the Friday - I went into proper labour on the Tuesday. Its all going in the right direction and really won't be long! Can't wait to hear the news of your arrival!!

Been to ballet this morning and now she's just playing until lunch time and snooze time.
Going to a drop in music class later which will be good as it goes on for 45 minutes so nice and long and towards the end of the day so finishes the day nicely!
Gregs got a work dinner tonight so I'm on my own again. He is having dinner with Nick Clegg - very random!
Anyway better get playing :)

Grrr annoyed - Gregs brother is having is extra long stag do (4 days in Spain!) the weekend we planned to go on holiday. We can't go when greg gets back because the changeover days are a Friday so we would have to wait for the following friday but then we would get back and the next day it would be Annabelles birthday which means we would have no time to prepare for her party. Then I'd like to go soon after that as possible but prices jump up as its school holidays so the next time is 6th sept - and its his brothers wedding so I then have to wait another week so we can't actually go away until 13th September which feels like years away to me. I'm really upset about it as I already feel like I need a holiday so goodness knows how rubbish I'll feel by then!

Georgie - wow I forgot about the constant,m is this it questionning when you are due! I remember us all on here every day waiting for signs for someone and I was texting Mel and Han from the hospital - feels like a million years ago!

Simmy - so sorry that you and Paul had a row. Me and Neel have made up, so it's your turn now :) Are things better today? Maybe being apart whilst he is at work is helping as you have your own space.

Han - check out greg having dinner with the deputy prime minister! He must be very important! Hope you're ok tonight with A on your own.

Good day here so far - pushing on through the illness but me and Ajay have been to toddler group which was fun as we have a little group of friends there now which is lovely. Then we had a lovely lunch and he is sleeping. This afternoon I got a refund from the tax man - yay - so I want to pop to the bank and pay that in so we have quite a busy day really.
