I'm sorry Twag. The rules are so hard. I won't be able to see my 14 year old goddaughter this year. I haven't seen her since last Christmas. She has stage 4 cancer and part of me is terrified I will never see her again.

My custom hats I had made for the dance teachers never came. The last day of dance was the 19th. I'm still missing a couple of other things as well. This is so stressful.

I don't blame anybody in any tier if they mingle for Christmas. It's sad but not many people get to see others at any other time of the year. I have colleagues who are having 14+ people for Christmas. It's nobody else's business. We're currently tier 3 planned 4 from 28th, it doesn't make sense. This whole tier system should stop, it isn't working by the county.

@Phantom, break the rules for this exception, it could be something you will regret and can't rectify.

@monkee12 hope the move went smoothly and you can finally relax. Save the unpacking until after Christmas and keep out your necessities! We lived out of a box for a good month before unpacking properly in this current house!

My Inlaws had a good idea, they decided to meet us somewhere so we could exchange gifts and say Merry Christmas at an outside location, it was sad my DD2 wanted to hug her grandparents and we couldn’t, but we were at least able to see each other.

Well said @SmartieMeUp !! I don’t think anything is working , masks , lockdowns , tiers . The cases all go back up soon as they are all eased ! Its only to prevent then NHS from being overwhelmed not to control the virus ?! . I just don’t know anymore ! The people are for sure loosing confidence in Boris and the gov and will just do what they want over Xmas for their own reasons and I don’t blame them . Some haven’t seen people for weeks / months !

@Phantom I am so sorry about your goddaughter my sister also has stage 4 Cancer (we found out in September) and my worry is this could be her last Christmas (doesn't bare thinking about tbh) and as much as I would love to break the rules to see her I also do not want to put her in anymore risk (chemo has not been kind to he) :sad: luckily my parents are still going to see her. You and your family are in my thoughts

I feel for any of you who have the difficult decision over family. It's really not fair.

I am genuinely starting to feel concerned about the new year! Another national lock down,schools and colleges closed. All these measures do not seem to work. You can't keep people locked up away from loved ones.
I begin to wonder if this really is just about a virus!

I agree we cannot stay in lockdown forever - people need to socialise and see family & friends
