Pull out method...TMI lol

We use the pull out method. First time he didn't pull out I got pregnant (planned but not prepared to have it happen that quick) We will now be using the vasectomy method:haha:

WAAAAAAAY TMI but does it have to be completely withdrawn? I mean what if it's lingering around the surface LMAO??!!!

Any time the penis comes into contact with the vagina theres a chance of pregnancy

Rubbish. There needs to be a fertile egg waiting, or going to be released within the lifespan of the sperm. Sorry to criticise your post, I know a lot of people believe that and you just happened to be the one that said it. It just really bugs me as that misinformation gets bandied about, even by teachers, Drs, sex-ed folk, and it leaves women with a misunderstanding of their bodies. I think it's put out there to scare teenagers into 'safe' sex (another of my bugbears - seen the failure rate for condoms?). My husband and I had regular full intercourse, no barriers, no hormonal contraception, no pulling out, for YEARS with no surprises, then got pregnant twice exactly when we planned within the first month NTNP. That's because we knew when I was ovulating and so when was 'safe'.

Ok i will rephrase any time a penis comes into contact with a vagina around ovulation theres a chance of pregnancy :)

ok. blunt talk time! if you're fertile, and he ejaculates on your vulva, there is a chance, albeit small, that the sperm can ride the natural lube and fertile mucus wave right into the uterus...but that's one heck of a journey for sperm. still could happen though...but not likely.

for the people who said pull out method is not a form of contraception - sorry but you are wrong, it is a form of contraception, its just not as 'safe' as the pill or condoms etc.

me and oh are using this method at the moment as we are struggling to find a contraception that works for us. having another baby now wouldn't be a disaster and i think we would be trying for a baby around october time anyway (well maybe :/) we have been using this method for around 3 months now

"contraception: The deliberate use of artificial methods or other techniques to prevent pregnancy as a consequence of sexual intercourse." so pull out can be considered a contraception method.

actually to elaborate, milf, i have read studies that suggest with perfect use pull-out works better than condoms! i think this is best used for the experienced man though ;)

kess-- you're right, the schools need to be more informative. i grew up thinking pregnancy was something that happens with such ease! oooh the things i know now...

We used the pullout method for 6 years and never got pregnant....Then I went on BC pills..

Forgot 2 bc pills and one alcohol induced anniv night got me pregnant.

Pull out method was flawless!

lol dukes! i have to chuckle at the irony

Me and hubby pulled out for 3 years the first month of ntnp bam knocked up, we then again used out after my soon was born because we wanted to wait six months before getting pregnant again second month of ttc bam pregnant. This time I was on bc and pulling out and bam I'm nearly three months pregnant.

To me its not a contraception thats my opinion

Its a method not a contraception.

my midwifery degree disagrees :haha:

i have heard this too, but not sure how true it is. in my opinion i think it only has a higher rate of pregnancy because the man hasnt pulled out in time, i think if you pullout everytime its very unlikely to get pregnant :flower:

exactly right!--with perfect use as opposed to actual use.

what do you have to do to get a midwife degree?

to get on a course or to get the degree? to get the degree its 3 years at university, but most of it you spend on placement in the hospital (apart from the anatomy and physiology then uni bit was a waste of time you learn far more in practicing)you have a book every year of standards you have to meet and you have to deliver so many babies in the 3 years (40) and care for so many antenatal women etc.

I don't think any Doctor, Midwife, Nurse etc would advise it as a method of contraception.
I think it should only be used if you don't mind the chance of having a baby.
:)

my doctor was very against it, but hes probably going on the fact thats its ( i think he quoted) 60% effective, which doesnt take into account when the man didnt withdraw in time.

milf that sounds fun! how many babies have you delivered?

my doctor actually DID suggest pull out, but that's also because hormonal bc doesn't work on me, both hubs and i both have irritations with condoms, and i can't get an IUD because my uterus is partially septated.

...because i'm sure you all wanted to know :haha:

46 i think it is? all lovely deliveries, i do miss the rush you get after a delivery :)

lol i suggested to my doctor a diaphragm to start off with and he looked really disgusted :dohh: we are struggling to find a contraception that suits us. i think its snip time after next lo :haha:

The pull out method is actually very effective if used correctly. There is no sperm in precum. The only way there would be is he ejaculated and didn't pee and then you had sex. THe precum could push out the old sperm left behind. The reason pull out fails is due to lack of control of a guy, not because the method didn't work. If you are sure he pulled out at the right time, and had nothing left over from before then you are fine!
