November Sparklers 2012

What a crazy day today hAs been! Daddy ended up having to take Anthony to doctor as they were so behind it was going to run into my appt across town. He said he cried but he's fine now. I don't feel so well so we are snuggling on couch he just keeps farting STINKY farts so I'm blaming that on the shots. I feel sad I wasn't there to kiss him after :nope:

My appt was with the pediatrist, for about two years my right pinky toe and foot have hurt gradually getting worse. It's swollen and discolored most days. I pretty much have to have foot reconstruction! Bones shaved, staple and permanent screws put in and even a tendon/ligament taken out! WTH!! I didn't expect that and really freaked out. Surgery is April 9 hopefully hubby will get off long enough. 1 week no walking keeping foot elevated, 3 weeks avoiding standing long or walking unless necessary and 6 weeks in a cast boot! I really thought it was an intense stubbed toe not all that

Wow that sounds bad. It hurt for two years?

I'm not sure when it actually started I know over a year. It started as just an every now an then thing so I figured by the time I saw doctor pain would be gone. Then it started to hurt all day everyday but I was pregnant so not allowed X-rays. Then the swelling and discoloration started but every now and then .. Then it wouldn't go away so I finally made an appt which doctor then made a referral for me to see a pediatrist which took awhile. So yeah probably two years. Sounds crazy I know I guess I just learned to live with it. I would walk differently and wear different shoes. Since at first my foot looked no different at all I figured it was nothing. But now it does look different than my other foot :(

Ouch daddies!! I'm glad you're getting that taken care of!!

Lilbean - 7-10 hours at night is amazing!!! We regressed (growth spurt?) to about 2 hours for a few nights last week and now we're going about every 3-4 hours. I miss the 5-7 hour stretches! Plus, ninja has been waking between feeds (pacifier gets him back to sleep in a hurry), so I'm not getting as much sleep and it's killing me!

Hiya Boofle! Good to see you around! Hope things are going really well!

So... just sayin'... I was breastfed for 2 weeks. I don't think I have any lasting ill effects from being bf for such a short period of time, and besides my pcos, which wreaks havoc, I've always been very healthy. I don't remember any of it (no one will), so what really matters is that your LO is getting fed and getting lots of snuggles. I know it must be hard to stop bf'ing when you want to do it so badly, but your baby will be just fine!!

I wasn't breastfed and I'm healthy.
I feel like my milk is drying up slightly. We combi feed as I'm not producing enough for her and was told to top her up with formula. Darcy feeds from me for about 10 minutes and then screams as there isn't any left. I'm really thinking of giving it up. She is now 8 weeks old.

I'm pretty sure we are in wonder week 12...it's been pretty challenging the past two nights and days. My usually chill baby is fussy, loud and up every 1-3 hours at night. Ugh.

Shot tomorrow...not good timing although if he's already fussy maybe it's better to just get it over with this week! Sooooo dreading it!

Thanks ladies even If I would've went to doctor sooner the outcome would've always been this.

Anthony slept most the day yesterday with really bad gas then when he was awake he was a little fussy but much better today so I'm sure the side effects of the shots are gone.

Ill never rely on my husband to take him to doctor again. He didn't tell him anything I said, nor did he understand when I said he's NEVER had shots and he needs a higher dose of reflux medicine. Ugh! So pretty much I need to just take him back.

Daddies-ouch!

My lil man spent the day with daddy at a gym program I signed him up for, while I was at a Specialist appointment. I love my oh lol only daddy in a room full of women and babies and handled it like a trooper! Two of my gf's were there so they hung out with him, but he doesnt really know them so I'm proud of him going into that environment. I was sad I couldn't be there but sounds like they had a fun day.

I'm doing a postnatal fitness class with lo and holy crap today my abs hurt after yesterday lol hope its all worth it!

Anyone else doing any mommy/baby classes or groups?
I have us in a few, keeps us busy and out of the house,

I'm considering a mom and baby yoga but want to try one and just see how it is before committing!

I think I'll sign up for a music class and also baby signing later this year!

Oo baby signing would be fun!
We'll be signing with lo but not taking a class. (I went to school to learn sign language so a class would be a waste of money for us) he likes when I sign to him now.

Blondie - if you want to increase your supply you need to keep putting your wee one to the boob. As you say, the combi feeding means your supply is reduced, so the only way to get it up is to feed more. But if you feel you are ready to just move on to formula, that's fine too, you've got lots of lively breast milk in to bubs :)

All fine here - Toby is such a good boy, feeds really well. I've had issues with thrush, oversupply, milk blisters, plugged ducts and vasospasm, so its been interesting to say the least but we keep on at it!

I wish there was baby and me work out classes or signing classes here! Our town must be even more lame than I thought :winkwink:

Darcy slept for 8 hours last night!! She had a little whinge at 3:30 but I just stroked her face until she fell asleep again.

Blondie-8hre, awesome!

Daddies- ya were lucky we have lots of mom/baby classes. I love it.

We are fine here too, luckily I havent had any issues with my boobs *touch wood* if they are hard or whatever she just drinks it away in an instant :).

Blondie - well done with 8 hours!!!

gaia - I think I'm right there with you in the 12 week slump. Feeding (I should say snacking) every 1.5 - 2 hours and we're still trying to get back up to the longer night stretches (longer for us is 5-6 hours is all). :(

I tried giving Ninja formula before bed last night to see if it would stretch him out any longer. Didn't work. He sucked down 6 oz. though! He usually only takes 4 oz. of bm at any time. But then he only lasted 4.5 hours, which is pretty usual. And then he had a formula poop this morning , so I guess I'll just stick with the status quo. This mommy is needing more sleep!! :dohh:

I hear yah, last night was a bit better though. 10-2, then 3-6, then 7-9. Not terrible since I have the luxury of sleeping in!

One shot today...he cried, I cried, at least it's over. He's ok now but the memory of his little scream is still haunting me...ugh so awful.

I hope all your babes are doing well after their shots. Ninja had a slight reaction that my first son never experienced. Nothing major, but his little legs got swollen and red at the injection sites and he had a rough night that night. I had to give him Tylonol through the following day or he couldn't be consoled. :( With my first, they would give Tylonol at the office before the shots, but I guess they don't do that anymore because they want their body to be working with the vaccines right away and not be "coated" in Tylonol.

Gaia - that's about what my little guy has been doing lately - about 4 hours, then 3, then 2. He used to have something like two 5-hour stretches right after each other. I know that someday he'll get back to having longer stretches, but when you're in the thick of it, it feels like he'll never get there.

I only had them do one shot today. I'm way too chicken to handle 3 at once! Lol. I just have to go back a bit more but I'm also spreading them out quite a bit. So far so good but we will see if he's sore this evening.

I know what you mean, he has pretty much slept this way at night since week 1. The ONLY change is that he doesn't stay awake between sleeps, he knows it's night and is easy to get back to sleep (80% of the time). But as far as stretches of time he has really only done 5/6 hours about 4 times! He's a hungry little guy :)
