January 2020 Garnets!!!

I'm getting so much less stuff this time. We'd given away all G's stuff because I really did think we weren't going to do this again.

I hated the moses basket. My wife would have to beg me to lay down and go to sleep because I'd be sitting up looking at G. This time, we'll get a bedside cot so I can see baby without sitting up - it'll mean more sanity!

Not going to bother with a full sized cot until we actually need one (and may go the montessori route if we can). Or a high chair - all this stuff we bought last time before G was born that we didn't need for ages after.

Definitely getting a stretchy wrap for carrying - or even two so I can wash one and use the other! I'll have that for the hospital even. And newborn sized cloth nappies. I was so stressed out watching all the nappies go in the bin last time. We switched to cloth a month in and liked it so much better.

Not spending a fortune on a pram. We'll get a running one when kiddo is old enough, so just something to make it through until then. Probably 2nd hand.

All the 2nd hand clothing bundles of sleepsuits. Soft ones, because G was colicky and I spent a lot of time rubbing her back!

Am definitely considering the lie-flat carseats since we do long drives. Has anyone actually seen or used one? Maxi-Cosi Jade Car Cot - Sparkling Grey

Co_fostermom we are practically neighbors!!

Ashley2pink I find week 6 really drags too. There are no ultrasounds yet and no more bloodworm so it's just a week of sitting in limbo. Week 8 is also bad as I recall. I also feel terrible more often than not so I'm sure that's not helping.

We bought one of those sleepers that goes in our bed on sale when we first decided to have a second child as DS spent so much time in our bed his first 6 months.

I haven't been following basketball at all, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to most sports lol.

We're not planning to buy a double stroller. DS no longer uses a stroller at all and hasn't for some time, so if it works out we'll just use the Mountain Buggy we already have and put a toddler board on for DS.

I have a basic stroller. Tons of carriers.

I do feel like its dragging. 6wk6dys....can I add a 1 or a 2 to that? I'll even fast forward to 36w6dy. Haha

I need to find a baby book. When my other kids were babies, you could walk into a store and buy one. Not now apparently?

Ashley I have deliberately not been paying attention to exactly what day I am this week. As it stands I'm 7+6 today but I've preferred to keep thinking and saying that I'll be 8 weeks on Tuesday. I have a feeling week 8 is going to go slowly because at 8+7 I finally get my scan! Week 7 has so far been dull. I really haven't had much for symptoms so it hasn't felt totally real this week. I did get a bunch of hand-me-down baby girl clothes from a friend today. Going through them was both fun and weird because I was enjoying going through all the tiny clothes but then at the same time I was like, "woah, some of these are gonna be on my kid in a few months!"

We scored a secondhand Baby Jogger CityMini GT from a local couple who were expecting their second child and putting in for a double stroller, so we'll just need to buy some accessories for it. We do love it though. We sort of got to use it once when we let. friend use it for a bit while we were hanging with them because they wanted to try it out.

The Moses basket/ second bassinet won't be for our bedside, it'll be for the living room. I would get annoyed if I couldn't see my baby while laying down in bed too. I definitely want to get a SnuggleMe or a Dockatot (I think they're called Sleepyhead in other countries), but we won't be able to bed share as our bed is just too small and it's not recommended for extra small babies which we are expecting ours to be. We'll have the Halo for our bedside because it'll feel like bed sharing but it will also give Baby her own space which is safer. After spending nearly $30k on getting pregnant, I'm just not going to take any risks on questionable sleeping. I know bed sharing has worked for a lot of people and that's awesome - I just know it's not gonna work for us. Co-sleeping/ room sharing is a different story though. We plan on keeping Baby in our room until she's 12 months.

JD getting two stretchy wraps sounds like such a smart idea as far as being able to use one and wash one at the same time! I really want a Sakura Bloom ring sling, and we already have a Lillebaby structured carrier that we got for $40! The person we got it from was only able to use it three times but had a bad back so did something different. I love apps like Letitgo for that very reason. Sometimes if you keep an eye out, you can score some really stellar deals.

Minneapolis area, Minnesota, USA here!

Yay, welcome Robo! We have a lot of late January due dates in this group, so you're in good company. :)

Mommyprice - good luck on your scan today! Looking forward to some GOOD NEWS!

Co - This will be my 3rd; I've never had a Moses basket, but I can certainly see them being useful, since babies fall asleep in lots of places, and it'd be so nice to not have to carry them all across the house, and up flights of stairs, to get them to their crib. I'm planning on getting a bedside bassinet this time around, which I guess is similar.

I would also be careful, if you're thinking about the Safe Sleep mattress. Not that the thing itself is unsafe (I really wanted one myself), but it looks like the manufacturers have been shut down more than once for not shipping products after taking the customer payment. So buyer beware…

Becca thanks so much for the tip! I had no idea. I wasn't able to access their website last night. I figured it was due to maintenance or something. I wonder if I can access it today...

where do you go to get information on the best products and lists etc of what you’ll need? I’m not ready to start thinking about that yet but when the time comes!
I’m supposed to be going to a wedding Saturday but I’ve brought two outfits now which I don’t like, and my back up dress I was going to wear as a last resort no longer does up over my boobs!!! It fit 2 weeks ago! They’ve grown so much it’s insane! And all my trousers are starting to get tight - I’ve got so bloated I do look quite pregnant! I had some high waisted ones but they are no longer going to work! I don’t know whether I’m going to go as I’m feeling quite fat and tired and yucky! Plus the weather is horrible all week! It all seems very early for this to be happening! I weigh every week - the week of my bfp I put on 4lbs!! But I can fluctuate a half stone nearly with my period so I guess it’s not so bad, and I’ve not gained anything else since. Is anyone else feeling huge already? Xx

I'm still in the parking lot of the hospital, but just had to post - BABY IS OKAY!! I haven't had any nausea like I did in my 4 other pregnancies, which really made me nervous (along with the surgery, etc). Little one has a strong heart beat of 175 :) So thankful!

Google baby needs and a lot of lists should come up. Pinterest is full of stuff too.

Im glad baby is ok!

Babylist has a ton of guides and I like them as a registry site because of the welcome box and how organized everything is. But even if you don’t set up a registry you can use the guides. I also think they have a “list” setting to help keep you organized

Hooray! So glad to hear this. :)

Also, the babylist idea sounds intriguing... as I love lists and excuses to buy things. :) I'll have to check this out!

So glad all is good mommy price, I won't need to buy anything I have everything from my first. Not planning on a double buggy as little one loves walking and the trike

Each time I'm pregnant, I figure it's the last one, so I sell everything. Then I end up changing my mind and need to go buy everything again, lol! I don't remember what lists I used as reference with my first, but from there I just bought less and less, realizing what things worked for us/were worth it, vs things we didn't need. So though we have nothing for hand me downs, we're only getting a few things.

Aw that's great OnErth! I love it when I click with doctors right off the bat. I'm really bummed that the ob/ perinatologist I was planning on using in Colorado is in, well, Colorado, and I'm not anymore lol. She was by far the best doctor I've ever met.

Becca babylist.com is the best. I honestly don't know why so many people don't know about it! It'll compare prices of the same item from other stores too, even if they sell it for more than other stores might.

MommyPrice - Yay! I’m so very happy that your baby is OK! Congrats! Hope you can breathe a little easier now.

Red head - I’m already feeling huge as well. Our weigh scale is not working so I haven’t been able to weigh myself since I got pregnant, but I’m sure I’ve gained 4+ pounds as well. I’m also so bloated so I look gigantic anyway and it’s hard to fit my pants already. I don’t blame you for not even wanting to go to the wedding. It’s so hard to feel attractive while pregnant - especially in dressy attire. I feel like pregnant women should get a free pass to wear maternity leggings and yoga pants everywhere they please. :p

OnErth - I didn’t realize we were both 6+6 today. Cool!

I agree with everyone that the time is going very slowly. Feeling sick and gross definitely makes it go slower.

Love you're 1 day behind me. Im 7 today. Close enough though!

I agree on dressy stuff. Every time im pregnant, I try to wear a dress and it looks like a curtain.
I stay at home and nanny, I can wear whatever but if I had an office job or something, I can see how it would be harder to be comfortable.

Mommyprice that’s really good news!
Literati I’m 6+6 today. I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling huge!
OnErth that’s good you can wear what you like. I work for social services (adults) so have to look presentable, but they aren’t worried about us wearing suits etc. I do paperwork from home some days which is handy at the moment when I’m feeling rough. But I have to do lots of community work and go to peoples houses which can be quite bad at times.
What does everyone else do for work?

I work for a regional opera company. When I was in production it was casual clothes because you move around a lot and get dirty. I've recently transitioned to the office so I have to dress nicer, but this is WA and everyone is pretty casual. I have found dressing for work more challenging lately since I don't really fit into my normal jeans anymore (my only dressy pair were the first to not fit at the beginning of 6 weeks) and so finding shirts to dress up my very casual maternity jeans has been a bit challenging too. I've now bought two different types of maternity skinny jeans from motherhood but I have been super disappointed in both of them so I now need to save up for a better quality pair that won't fall off me the moment I walk anywhere (it's not because they're too big - they just don't stay up).
