~*Learning*To*Bake*&*Decorate*~Lesson 2 -Icing with fondant added!

Ummm id say these ones are 3 inches Jac, plenty big enough for a cake. They had them on sale in The Entertainer for £4.99 too

Need to crack on with this cake this evening ready to drop off to Passengerrach on Tues night but ive had such a shitty day (re my thread in GS) that ive kind of just lost all motivation to do anything at all

ohhhh  thought you'd forgot to post a link there Holly..

ill go check our instore in the week

my 3rd attempt was a balls up :-(

i forgot to add the vanilla so it tasted like pooh, and they all stuck & broke up when i was taking them out of the tin.. have ordered the release spray so hopefully that wont happen again ...... onwards and upwards! (couldnt get much worse than tonights efforts!)

where do you get this release spray from girls?

i just grease the tins with trex and then coat the edges of the pan with flour. i put a greaseproof paper circle on the bottom too x

Tracey do you roll out your fondant with Trex too? Read it on an american website once but havent tried it!

no...i read that too, but didnt fancy what it would taste like afterwards!! it would be real sticky too!

see thats what I thought! They made it look really easy though!

Well I have always used a wooden spoon and had lovely cakes but today I bought a hand mixer and oh my gosh WOW! The sponges came out amazing so light and fluffy.Never going back now lol

Oh Holly I bought some of that flour as it was on offer. It def made a difference.I was going down the home baking aisle and I saw Fondant icing sugar and thought of you.Tyrex and thought of Nutty mummy. Hand blender thought of Andrea.I can't even shop without you girls in my head x

LOL!

I didnt think I'd find McDougalls flour anywhere! :hissy: They sell it online at sainsburys so I'll check in the shop next time we go there, or theres a shop online but postage is frightening!

BUT I did find a sneaky bag of it hidden in the back of my cupboard! No idea when I bought it but I'll use it for my cake I'm doing tonight!

Andrea can you not get it at all?

Would you like me to send some to you?

AW thanks doll! I am going to try Sainsburys first then a few little corner shops we have round here ... I must have got that bag in my cupboard from somewhere!!!
